GMB Scotland members across NHS to vote on pay offer
GMB Scotland members in the National Health Service will be asked to vote on a 5.5% pay offer.
Details of the proposed rise for NHS staff, including Scottish Ambulance Service workers, were received today after negotiations with the Scottish Government closed.
Karen Leonard, GMB organiser in NHS Scotland, said the proposed offer was a one-year deal with no terms or conditions attached.
She said: “Our reps met this afternoon to discuss the offer when it was noted that our members had asked for a one-year deal that was above inflation.
"This offer meets those objectives and, given that, it is right that our members in the NHS decide our next step.
"We will open a consultative ballot within days.”
The three-week ballot is to open on Monday with a result expected on 16 September.
The UK Government has already offered 5.5%, recommended by pay review bodies, to NHS staff in England with chancellor Rachel Reeves saying there is "a cost to not settling pay negotiations."
