GMB Scotland Welcomes Which? Cash Friendly Pledge
GMB Scotland Welcomes Which? Cash Friendly Pledge - A Boost For Cash Transit Workers And Local Communities
Responding to today’s (Thursday 13 May) announcement by consumer group Which? encouraging British retailers to sign up to a cash acceptance pledge, helping to ensure that customers who want to pay in coins and banknotes will not be excluded by the transition to digital payments, Gary Smith, GMB Scotland Secretary, the union for cash transit workers, said:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has hit cash hard, so this is some welcome news for GMB members in the industry after a difficult year, and it’s good news for local communities too, where access to cash still matters.
“A levelling-up agenda means that no one should be left behind, and being able to use cash is vital for the elderly and some of our most vulnerable citizens, who rely on cash to manage their budgets.”
