SRtRC’s New Office Launch
Scottish Football Legends Roll-Out For SRtRC’s New Office Launch
Scottish football legends Mark Hateley and Keith Wright will formally open Show Racism the Red Card’s (SRtRC) new premises in Glasgow tomorrow (Tuesday 28 February).
The campaign group have teamed-up with the GMB Scotland and will now reside permanently at the trade union’s main offices in Charing Cross.
SRtRC’s coaching team of former Ranger’s stars Derek Ferguson and Gary McSwegan and the ex-Hibs hero Mickey Weir, will also be on hand to discuss the important education work across Scottish schools and communities.
SRtRC Chief Executive Ged Grebby said “Thanks to the GMB trade union for providing our charity with this great office space. The Trade Union movement in Scotland has been the backbone of our anti-racism education campaign for many years. There supply is needed more than ever, given the rise in racism throughout the UK.”
GMB Scotland Secretary Gary Smith said: “Now more than ever the work of SRtRC needs to be promoted and supported because ignorance, inequality and intolerance are increasingly prevalent. We cannot be complacent about the challenges facing us as a society.
The awareness and education that SRtRC delivers in our schools and communities is absolutely crucial in tackling discrimination at the grassroots level and let’s be clear that these challenges are as prevalent in Scotland as they are anywhere else.
I am proud to have SRtRC with us here in GMB Scotland and our entire trade union is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in the fight for equity and social justice.”
